Hoboken, New Jersey
It was so wonderful being back in Hoboken for Alex and Jackson’s engagement photos! I’d lived in Hoboken/Jersey City since 2015 and although I absolutely LOVE our new house in the suburbs, being back did sort of feel like coming home.
However, as soon as I parked in Hoboken for their session it started to rain (even though there had been no rain in the forecast all day, argh). I ran back to my car to grab a clear umbrella, and on my way out of the parking garage I completely missed a step down and totally ate it. Luckily my camera and lenses were all fine, but I twisted my ankle and scraped up my knee. Off to a great start!
Thankfully the rain subsided and all we had were clear skies — and even a little sun — for the rest of their session!
Alex and Jackson have the BEST “how they met” story… mostly because they went to the same high school (which is actually the high school I went to as well), but didn’t know each other at the time! Fast forward a few years after graduating college, Alex’s best friend happened to be Jackson’s next door neighbor — and the rest is history. They’ve been together for a little over 6 years now!
Here’s how Alex tells their proposal story:
“Jackson actually proposed on my birthday! My birthday was Sunday, July 12th and I was trying to plan with my brother (who has a 1 1/2 year old) when we could go to my parent’s house to celebrate, and I was pushing for Saturday the 11th so I could relax on my actual birthday. So, there was no set plan in place but we ended up going on Sunday and my godfather (who I always celebrate my birthday with) was also there which I thought was the surprise, but then my future father-in-law casually strolled in he backyard, and Jackson popped the question while I was in the pool trying to save me from going underwater and ruining any potential pictures. I was completely surprised and honestly didn’t know how he could keep a secret like that while spending practically every literal waking moment in the same room as me.”
In their spare time, Alex and Jackson love spending time with friends and, what they do best — binge watching shows and recent movies. They both love all things pop culture and even have an Instagram together, @flicksandflix, where they review movies and tv shows.
These two were so much fun to work with and their photos are SO stunning. I can’t wait for wedding next summer at Crossed Keys Estate!
