I have been extremely fortunate to photograph so many of Nicole and Ryan’s special moments, so being a part of their wedding day truly meant so much to me. I first met Nicole and Ryan when we lived in the same building in Jersey City, and our dogs would play together in the communal dog run.
Ryan reached out to me about shooting his proposal to Nicole in January of 2020 on the Hoboken waterfront, and I LOVE a proposal so I couldn’t have been more excited. Everything went perfectly to plan, and Nicole was SO surprised.
When they both reached out to me a few months later to plan engagement photos, I couldn’t wait to work with them again! Between rain reschedules and Ryan unfortunately chipping his tooth right before our shoot, it eventually got pushed out to summer of 2021 — but we made it happen! We were laughing the whole time despite the crazy 90 degree heat.
So, when they began planning their wedding for later that year, I was ecstatic that they wanted me to shoot it! We worked together to find a date that was available, and in only a few short months their entire vision was brought to life.
Although there was rain in the forecast all week, we were gifted with perfectly cloudy skies and unseasonably warm weather (although the chilly bridesmaids may not have agreed!). But considering December can go either way, it really turned out to be the perfect day for these two to celebrate their love — a day that was many years in the making.
Halifax was the perfect setting for this wedding day, brought to life by the talented teams at Simply Dunn Designs and Blossom & Bee Florals. Flipping the ceremony space into a stunning reception in less than 30 minutes was no easy feat, but their seemingly effortless creation of exactly what Nicole and Ryan had been dreaming of couldn’t have been more spot on.
I’m so happy that I was able to be a part of Nicole and Ryan’s entire engagement journey as well as their wedding day! Congratulations to the Gerritys!!!
