Hoboken, New Jersey
Capturing Amanda and Matt’s intimate church celebration was such a pleasure! These two couldn’t have gotten more beautiful weather for their special day — high 70s with no humidity, it was an absolute dream. Not to mention, the photos came out absolutely stunning! Their portrait session on the Hoboken waterfront after the church ceremony was the perfect way to close out the summer.
Amanda and Matt first met four and a half years ago in New York City at the club, Marquee. They met around 1AM, crossing paths by chance, and danced the entire night. Amanda says that it is still the best, most crazy, serendipitous night of their lives.
The very next day they went on our first date at the Pilsener Haus & Biergarten in Hoboken. Over the next few months they went on many more dates all around Hoboken, trying out nearly every restaurant in the mile-square town — which is why they chose Hoboken for their portrait location! The two started dating right away and have been inseparable ever since. Matt first told Amanda he loved her three months later on the 4th of July in New York City, where it all began. This is especially important to Amanda because he eventually proposed on July 3rd, almost exactly two years from when the couple first said “I love you.”
Speaking of Amanda and Matt’s proposal, it is truly one of the most magical engagements! As Amanda tells it:
“We got engaged in Positano, Italy. I had a work trip that we turned into a vacation! When we arrived in Italy, we had planned to have dinner in Positano the second day of our trip, which is where he ended up popping the question! I remember he was carrying his suit jacket in 90-degree weather, and little did I know, he was hiding the ring in that pocket, so that I would not notice it. We walked down the hill to the beach in Positano to the iconic spot with all of the colorful beach chairs and umbrellas. I was bugging Matt to take a photo of just me (LOL) in the iconic spot, but he was waiting for the perfect moment when the sun was just behind the mountain. He set up his camera and phone to record the video, on top of a champagne bucket that he put on top of a beach chair! I did not think this was that strange, because we always use the self-timer to take the perfect photo of each other on vacations. He also had a rubber band wrapped around the button on his camera to continually take photos of the big moment. He finally steps over to take a photo with me and the video shows our true, raw reaction. I thought we were simply taking a photo, and he all of a sudden pulls out a ring box and gets down on one knee! I could not believe my eyes and completely freaked when I saw the ring was exactly what I had always dreamed of, from my favorite designer, Lauren B.“
Amanda’s custom bridal gown and cape by LeLaurier was absolutely stunning, and the two were the picture of perfection on their special day! Congratulations Amanda and Matt — I couldn’t be more excited for the two of you to start this next chapter of your life together, and I am so happy to have been a part of your story.
