Scarsdale, New York
Can I let you in on a secret? With each intimate backyard wedding I shoot, I love them more and more. And Jenna and Rob’s was no exception — although it was a bit warm out (about 95° but who’s counting), the rain held off and the day went absolutely perfectly.
Jenna and Rob currently live in Santa Monica, and met there a few years ago. “We like to call ourselves kindred spirits. We both are from New York area, lived in NYC post-college, and quickly realized we were made for sunnier skies and an easier lifestyle so both happened to move out to LA… just a few years apart. We met just 3 months into me living in LA on Hinge, and the rest is history!”
Rob proposed to Jenna in NYC (they moved back in 2019 for his job for a year). “I have always loved the art and charm of NYC especially chalk art and Rob hired a chalk artist to leave me messages on sidewalk for me to find!” Jenna explains. “It was amazing. We had dinner with our families after, had a party at a bar with some friends and moved back to LA the next day! We’ve been engaged for a year and a half.”
These two were supposed to have a big wedding out in LA last July, but when the pandemic hit they pulled the plug in May. Instead, they began planning a beautiful, intimate celebration in Rob’s parents’ backyard in Scarsdale, NY. As we were chatting about their new plan, Jenna said, “We’ve come such a long way from our original plans, and I’m just grateful we can have our family together for this.”
The day turned out to be everything Jenna and Rob had ever hoped for, and more. They made it completely 100% “them” and were thrilled to be able to invite more guests than they had originally thought possible as COVID restrictions loosened. They even had a pizza truck in the front yard, which I gladly partook in.
