Hoboken, New Jersey
I’ve known Lauren since pre-school and had the pleasure of getting to know her boyfriend – now fiancé! – Justin when we moved into the same building in Jersey City. Justin reached out to me a few months ago with the exciting announcement that he planned to propose to Lauren in June, and asked if I would be available to capture the moment for them. I, of course, said yes (!!!) and we coordinated details up until the weekend of the proposal.
On the day of, Justin let us know when he was heading into Hoboken with Lauren. Hoboken has a ton of significance to their relationship – although they attended the same college they actually met in Hoboken, and their first apartment together was in Hoboken. Now, full circle, they were going to become engaged in Hoboken!
Justin chose a pier by the skate park that they used to run to together when they lived in the area. Matt (who was my assistant for the day) and I both wore hats and sunglasses, and I tucked my hair up into my hat in the hopes she wouldn’t be able to recognize me from afar.
All went according to plan and neither of them ended up seeing us. We ran out shortly after he popped the question and got some photos of Lauren’s reaction. She, of course, said yes!
Congratulations Lauren and Justin, we’re so happy for you!
