Serena and Patrick’s winter wedding was the perfect way to kick off 2021! Like so many couples, they had originally planned a larger gathering but unfortunately had to postpone it to 2022 due to COVID — however, these two still wanted to tie the knot on their original date and had a beautiful, intimate church ceremony to make it official on January 2nd!
These two first met in college, and as Serena tells it…
“I actually sat behind him Sophomore year in Management class at Rutgers Business School. I always thought he was handsome, but he never talked me. Senior year, he was in most of my business classes, so I was like — THIS IS A SIGN!!!! I started packing up fast after our last class, so that we could walk together to the parking lot. I invited him to an ugly sweater Christmas party right after Thanksgiving break and that’s where we shared our first kiss! We dated “casually” until June of 2016, and we made it official then. We have been together for nearly 5 years!”
Fast forward a few years, and Patrick was planning to propose. Serena works at Bulgari, so of course he really wanted to get her a Bulgari ring since he knew it would be meaningful to her… but as, Serena said, it didn’t hurt that he could also get a discount!
He had been secretly working with her coworker, Shanda, for months to get the ring. Then, on a work trip (turned personal) to Italy, Patrick decided on a random last minute trip to Venice — the city where the first ever engagement ring was presented (a fact I didn’t know until hearing this story!).
“Booking a Gondola ride, under the guise of a late anniversary gift, Patrick proposed to me on the Grand Canal. Meanwhile, I probably spent that entire time talking him out a “day trip” to Venice because Venice IS NOT A DAY TRIP haha. But here we are!”
I could not have been happier to have been a part of this beautiful day for Serena, Patrick, and their families. While winter weddings are certainly not for the faint of heart, we were lucky enough to have a relatively warm (for January standards!) day, and no rain or snow is always a plus!
Congratulations to Serena and Patrick, I am so honored to have been able to capture these special moments for you!
