Nicole and John’s wedding day at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club was nothing short of unforgettable. It wasn’t just the love and laughter that filled every moment, but the unexpected turn the weather took in the best possible way. After a week of nonstop rain in the forecast and a morning of steady downpour, these two held onto hope. As the day went on, the skies cleared and the sun came out just in time for dreamy outdoor portraits and a picture-perfect ceremony overlooking the green.
From the very beginning, Nicole and John’s story has been full of surprises and serendipity. They first crossed paths during their junior year at Wake Forest University, meeting on a “Thirsty Thursday” at a college bar called (fittingly) the Last Resort. While it wasn’t love at first sight, it didn’t take long for their connection to grow into something undeniable. One snowy night and a cozy spaghetti dinner at John’s parents’ house later, Nicole decided to give it a real shot — and the rest, as they say, is history.
They graduated in 2019, weathered a year of long distance while Nicole was in grad school in NYC, and eventually started their life together in D.C. Fast forward to summer of 2023 when John proposed at Nicole’s family beach house in Connecticut. The home was built by her great-grandfather and is where her parents met and later got engaged. That deep sense of family history made the moment even more meaningful.
Nicole’s engagement ring is absolutely breathtaking, an oval diamond on a gold band with platinum prongs and a hidden halo. They went ring shopping together and, while Nicole picked the setting and shape, John chose the final diamond. She didn’t see the finished ring until he proposed, and it was everything she had dreamed of.
Their vision for the day was timeless and full of heart — classic romance paired with a celebration that truly reflected who they are. Fiddler’s Elbow was the perfect setting, combining elegance with beautiful, sweeping grounds. They were also married on John’s grandparents’ wedding anniversary, honoring a couple who shared over 50 wonderful years together.
From their emotional first look with private vows to their joyful, faith-led ceremony and packed dance floor, every part of Nicole and John’s day overflowed with love, laughter, and meaningful moments. What began as a rainy morning turned into the sunniest celebration — a perfect reflection of their story and the life ahead of them.
