There’s something endlessly magical about a New York City wedding — the feeling that, for one perfect day, the city slows down just enough for two people to celebrate their love in its midst. Samantha and Alex’s Tavern on the Green wedding was exactly that: a classic Manhattan moment where the bustle faded, Central Park glowed, and every detail felt timelessly romantic.
These two met seven years ago at a bar in Chicago called Benchmark. What started as a casual night out with friends turned into a full day together, followed by a first date the very next night. From that point on, they’ve been inseparable!
In 2022, they moved to New York and settled into an apartment on the Upper West Side near Central Park. It quickly became their favorite place, especially for weekend walks with their dog, Cooper. During one of those walks, Alex proposed near the bridge by the water right beside the Plaza Hotel. He had designed Samantha’s dream ring himself. After months of research and picking up on her subtle hints, he created a stunning round diamond with a delicate band — everything she had imagined and more.
Although they called New York home for several years, Samantha and Alex actually moved back to Chicago the month before their wedding — talk about timing! Despite the chaos of packing up one life and starting another, their day came together seamlessly. They were gifted the most beautiful, unseasonably warm October weather. Both got ready in hotel rooms overlooking Central Park, and they shared an emotional first look in the park itself. With sunlight filtering through the trees and the city buzzing softly in the background, it was the perfect New York moment.
(And, in true NYC fashion, the only hiccup was when a bird happened to target me right before family photos. That’s correct, a bird pooped right on my head. Thankfully, a kind passing stranger offered baby wipes and we were back in business in no time! Honestly, better me than the bride.)
From there, we made our way to the iconic Tavern on the Green, where their ceremony took place in the dreamy, light-filled Garden Terrace. Surrounded by lush greenery and stunning florals, Samantha and Alex exchanged vows in the most romantic setting imaginable. As the sun set over Central Park, their guests enjoyed dinner and dancing under the soft chandelier light — a celebration that felt straight out of a New York love story.
It was truly the perfect day for two of the sweetest souls and I absolutely loved documenting this next chapter in their lives. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Jobert!
