I often boast that rarely do my engagement sessions have to be postponed due to weather. Well, apparently the universe grew tired of my bragging because the weekend of Allison and Joey’s engagement session it was super rainy with cloudy skies. My Saturday engagement session unfortunately postponed, but Allison and Joey wanted to still try to make their session on Sunday work. So, we watched the forecast closely and decided to move up our shoot to noon.
If you know one thing about me (and, most photographers), it’s that I love shooting at sunset. Golden Hour is the most highly coveted time of day for a reason — it has the softest, glowiest light, and creates such beautiful images. However, when it’s forecasted to rain from 4:00 pm on, you improvise. Luckily we had perfectly cloudy skies to diffuse any harsh, mid-day sunlight, and I truly had the best time working with sweet Allison and Joey.
These two have been together for over six years, and are college sweethearts! They first met at Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts when Joey was a senior and Allison was a junior. Their dorms were down the hall from each other, and thanks to mingling friend groups, became fast friends and eventually fell in love. The rest, as they say, is history!
Joey proposed to Allison on August 8, 2020 (one day before her birthday!). He arranged a “birthday dinner” at her parents’ house, with his parents there as well. When they arrived, there was champagne, roses, and a beautiful setup. Joey got down on one knee and proposed — and Allison, of course, said yes! It was made all the more special having all of their parents, and Allison’s brother, alongside them to celebrate their engagement. Little did she know, Joey had been secretly texting Allison’s mother for months to get a sense of what type of ring she would like. And, he absolutely nailed it!
Together these two live in in Connecticut, and in their spare time love to binge tv shows together, dog sit, discover new restaurants, travel, and spend time with friends.
I could not be more excited for Allison and Joey’s wedding on October 8, 2022 at the Rolling Hills Country Club in Wilton, Connecticut! Truly counting down the days until I get to work with this sweet couple again.
