Jersey City, New Jersey

A stunning day for a Battello wedding! I had the best time celebrating sweet Kelli and Danny. From their engagement session in Spring Lake last year, to their rehearsal dinner at Porto Leggero in Jersey City the night before, through the very end of their wedding day, these two were an absolute joy to work with and I had the best time documenting so many special moments.
Kelli and Danny have been together for about four years now. As Kelli tells it, “We first met at a bar called the Happiest Hour in NYC. It was a random Thursday night in August and we were both out with our coworkers! I eyed Danny first, and our groups kind of gravitated toward each other as the night went on. He bought me a vodka soda (classic) and we started talking. We ended up sitting down at a table together and splitting a cheeseburger, and the rest is history! Every year on our ‘meet-aversary’ we go back to that bar for burger night.”
Danny officially popped the question in November of 2022. “The plan was to grab brunch at Halifax in Hoboken for a triple date with two of my friends from high school. The morning of, he suggested we go to Hoboken early (we live in NYC) to walk around a bit before brunch. Once we got off the PATH, he brought me to the pier and proposed in front of the skyline! Afterwards, we went to one of our favorite bars in the West Village with all of our close family and friends there to surprise me! The funny part to this story is that I was out SUPER late with my friends the night before because one of them was visiting from out of town (unknowingly for my own engagement that weekend) and I was pretty tired and hungover engagement day. Danny definitely had a bone to pick with my girlfriends after that…”
Battello was the perfect setting for Kelli and Danny to say their vows and make their union official. “When envisioning the wedding day, I wanted something timeless and romantic, with candles and flowers absolutely everywhere. When looking for venues, we toured way too many stuffy country clubs with ugly carpets… it was so unlike us! We fell in love with Battello for its urban yet chic vibe, its incredible view of the city where Danny and I met and started our lives together, the amazing food, and of course the hardwood floors. With the unpredictable weather around New York City in May, choosing a venue that had both an outdoor and indoor space was really important to us. Our wedding is slightly unique as we are actually eliminating the wedding day traditions many people choose to do — like a grand entrance, something borrowed/blue, and even a guest book. We want it to be very authentically us by keeping it simple with the things we care about the most — good food, a nice view, and most importantly a great party.”
And Kelli and Danny got precisely that! They had such a beautiful day, and despite some inclement weather in the forecast they had nothing but clear blue skies. Although Liberty State Park was quite literally the most crowded I’d ever seen it (there was some sort of fair going on, police had closed most of the parking lots, and the ferry traffic was insane) we were still able to get so many gorgeous photos there, and by the time we headed back to Battello were able to take in the stunning ceremony space decked out quite literally top to bottom in opulent floral design. These two had the party of a lifetime to celebrate their marriage, and I couldn’t be happier for the two of them!
