I truly have no words to describe just how beautiful Kate and Sam’s wedding day was! These two got the most amazing weather and stunning light all day. This was my first time shooting at Fiddler’s Elbow and it did not disappoint — the grounds were absolutely incredible, and there were so many gorgeous spots for portraits.
Kate and Sam are college sweethearts! As Sam tells it, “We met freshman year at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Kate lived two doors down from me on our freshmen dorm floor. One day early in the fall semester, I saw her walk out of her room and I was mesmerized, I HAD to know who she was. I decided I would use a friendship with her roommate as my in and would make excuses to hang out in their room to get more time with her. After some playful conversations, I convinced her to come to a party with me and the rest is history. We had an amazing night, and obviously I made the first move. We have been together ever since!”
Kate’s ring is a classic, single round diamond with a pave diamond band. Sam picked it out himself with his mother, and Kate loved it! Sam surprised her a few weeks later by proposing on the beach, and Kate (of course) said yes.
As Kate tells it, “Sam had a company set up an elaborate beach picnic on LBI with candles, pillows, wine, charcuterie board, etc.! It was a Wednesday night, so I thought we were celebrating my new job as he initially had told me. Then he proposed and all his family and our friends came down to the beach with champagne and we celebrated all night — best night of my life (it included a heart-shaped pizza as well!).”
One of my favorite parts of Kate and Sam’s wedding day was the private vows they read to each other right after their emotional first look. Through a mix of laughter and tears, this sweet couple made promises to forever love, support, and be there for each other. I personally love when couples take a private moment together, and this was the perfect way for these two to start one of the best days of their lives together.
I feel so lucky to have been able to document this special day for Kate and Sam, congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Wasserman!
