Spring Grounds for Sculpture Engagement

Hamilton Township, New Jersey

One of my favorite parts about shooting engagement sessions, aside from meeting all of my sweet couples before their wedding day, is getting to go to locations I might not have explored on my own! When Alexandria suggested shooting at Grounds for Sculpture for their engagement photos, I was all in — I had been for a field trip back in elementary school, but had basically no memories of it beyond knowing it was an outdoor art museum.

And it truly did not disappoint! The grounds are seemingly endless which gave us so many gorgeous shooting locations, and the trees were in peak bloom. We were lucky enough to not get hit with any of the rain in the area, and had the most beautiful partly cloudy skies to diffuse the light.

Allie and Jon first met in college in 2008. As Allie tells it, “We spent the first 9-10 years of knowing each other being friends. We’ve always had a connection — it’s what helped us to have such a solid foundation in our friendship, but the timing was always off for us from a romantic perspective. Until the summer of 2017 when we found ourselves both single and a few cocktails in, and the timing was finally right!”

Fours years later, Jon proposed on October 15, 2021 in front of their (hiding!) families as they were walking along the water — the same way he had asked Allie to be his girlfriend years before. Her ring is a traditional, 6-prong round solitaire. “It’s exactly what I wanted! After being together for 4 years before being engaged, he definitely knew what I wanted.”

Together these two love to travel and take weekend trips. They also love food and enjoy trying new places, as well as going out with their friends and families. At the end of the day, though, they also love to spend time just the two of them relaxing together. I’m so excited to celebrate these two at their wedding next April at The Gramercy at Lakeside Manor!
