A Chilly & Romantic Sea Girt Engagement

April showers bring May flowers, right? Well, so they say — but sometimes, the beginning of May can be just as chilly as March! Colleen and Ben’s engagement session turned out to be on the colder side, but you’d never know it by the photos! These two did such a great job despite the overcast skies and cool breeze, and I truly had such an amazing time getting to know them!

Colleen and Ben first met at a mutual friend’s party in Hoboken. Colleen was already living there at the time, and Ben and a few friends were thinking of moving to Hoboken as well so they were visiting the mutual friend to get a feel for it. As Colleen tells it, “We chatted a bit at our friend’s apartment and then I made the first move at the bar that night! Ben moved to Hoboken a month later, and we basically have been together ever since!

Ben eventually proposed five years to the day of them meeting that night! “We had a busy stretch of weeks of traveling for weddings and such, and I was looking forward to finally having a quiet weekend at home just the two of us when Ben suggested eating dinner on the beach (one of our favorite things to do). Right at sunset, he said he wanted to go feel the water and proposed! He then surprised me with a party with our families that night, and again the next day with a party with all of our friends. He outdid himself!”

These two looked at rings together! Although Colleen had originally thought she would want an emerald cut, but the first one she tried on she knew it wasn’t for her and ended up loving a round cut. Ben was left with two different band choices so there was still some surprise, and he ended up picking Colleen’s secret favorite of the two!

Colleen and Ben live together in Spring Lake Heights (which is actually Colleen’s hometown!) and love going to the beach, walking along the boardwalk, having dinner on the beach, and enjoying a relaxing night in. I’m so excited to celebrate these two next May at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club in Farmingdale, NJ!
