Sometimes rescheduling due to rain results in even more amazing photos! The forecast for Lauren and Todd’s engagement session was beautiful all week — until the day before! Suddenly, it was supposed to rain during the exact hours we would be shooting. Luckily, Lauren was able to move her hair and makeup appointments to the following day, and we crossed our fingers the forecast would hold up.
Well, not only did the forecast hold up but we had the most beautiful weather — low 70s — AND the most beautiful light. Such a silver lining!
Lauren and Todd went to high school together and used to hang out in the same friend group, “But we never really liked each other,” as Lauren put it.
“We didn’t start dating until college. Ironically and very inconveniently, we rekindled and fell in love while I was going to school 4 hours away. We managed to survive a long distance relationship for 4 years. We have been together for 6!”
The summer after Lauren’s first year at Penn State, these two rekindled at a Memorial Day Weekend BBQ with mutual high school friends and we were the only ones dancing the entire time. They survived long distance for 2.5 years (“And it was TORTURE,” according to Lauren) but they’ve been inseparable ever since she graduated.
Lauren and Todd got engaged in January 2020 at Mohonk Mountain House in New Year. “It was AMAZING — and freezing cold.” Lauren was totally surprised when Todd popped the question, and seeing the ring that they had designed together for the first time was nothing short of magical.
“My ring is an oval in a cathedral setting with a three row pave band. It is EXACTLY what I always dreamed of because I’m crazy and made him a PDF ring guide. We totally designed it together and I was at all the ring appointments. Our reasoning was that if we were going to spend so much, why not make it something we both love?!”
Together these two love working on their new home, watching movies, and cooking together.
I couldn’t be more excited to shoot Lauren and Todd’s wedding next April at the Ryland Inn in Whitehouse Station!
