I had the best time with Cait and Blake at their engagement session at Skylands Manor! Crazy enough, the forecast looked good all week until the day of our session when thunderstorms were predicted at the exact time we’d be shooting. I frantically texted Cait, and thankfully we were all able to move our shoot time up a bit in the hopes of missing the rain. Although the skies opened in the last 15 minutes of our session, we were still able to capture some beautiful portraits of these two, as well as their sweet rescue dog Stella!
Cait and Blake first met in college, and as Cait tells it, “We were both part of the Ithaca College Track and Field team! We were friends forever, and then started dating his senior year. I made the first initial move but it kinda fizzled out — and then a year later, it was all Blake!”
These two got engaged in one of Cait’s favorite places, Cape Cod. “Blake is a true romantic! On the other hand, I very type A, very nosy, and you can’t get a lot past me! Blake had been planning for close to 6 months, trying to get every detail right. Long story short, I grew up vacationing on Cape Cod and all my family lives in the area. It just so happens that my grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary was the same weekend, so everyone had disguised the celebration as that! Little did I know, I was setting up my own party (very smart on his end!). He proposed on the beach we go to in Cape Cod right down the street from my grandparents’ house. His entire family flew in and everyone was waiting for us back at my grandparent’s house for a huge surprise party!”
Cait has an absolutely beautiful moissanite ring. “It’s everything I wanted. We briefly talked about it and I picked it out while we had a COVID Christmas together, but I didn’t think anything of it!”
Together these two are big foodies, and love trying new restaurants and foods. They also love to go on walks with their dog Stella, as well as Target runs (I mean, same!). I cannot wait for their 11/11 wedding next fall at The Madison Hotel!
