Photographing Steph and Rob’s engagement session in Newport, Rhode Island was such a special honor — especially because Steph is a fellow wedding photographer herself! There’s something incredibly meaningful about being entrusted by someone who shares your craft, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have been the one to document this beautiful chapter of their love story.
We began their session outside Hotel Viking, a place filled with sentimental meaning for them. From birthdays and anniversaries to spontaneous getaways, every Newport trip has brought them back to this same iconic spot. So it only felt right to include it in their photos, especially paired with a classic white Rolls Royce for an extra timeless touch.
Steph and Rob’s story goes all the way back to a Christmas party in 2015. Though it wasn’t quite love at first sight (Rob arrived in a lifted red truck decked out in Christmas lights and a “Netflix and Chill” hoodie) it wasn’t long before they grew close through Panera dates, bowling nights, and countless hours spent building a friendship. Their relationship has since endured long distance, supported each other through life’s hardest seasons, and grown stronger with every passing year.
After nearly a decade together, Rob pulled off the ultimate surprise proposal back where it all started — on the rocks of Ocean Drive in Newport. Steph thought she was on a girls’ weekend, only to turn around and find Rob waiting there. The proposal was followed by dinner at their favorite restaurant, Mama Luisa’s, and a night at (of course) Hotel Viking.
As the sun began to set on their session, we made our way to the beach to catch the last golden light of the day. The warm glow, soft ocean breeze, and genuine love between these two made for such a dreamy ending to our time together.
Steph and Rob, thank you for inviting me into such a meaningful moment in your lives. Your joy, your story, and your unwavering love for one another are truly inspiring. I can’t wait to celebrate with you next summer at the iconic Rosecliff, what an incredible day it will be!
