There’s something about an early-May wedding in New Jersey that feels effortlessly beautiful. Warm sunshine, everything in bloom, and that fresh spring air set the tone for Kathryn and Patrick’s celebration at The Madison Hotel. Their day was inspired by a garden party aesthetic with colorful pastels, soft natural light, and thoughtful details throughout. Inside the venue’s glass conservatory, lush greenery and glowing light created the perfect setting, while delicate, handmade paper cranes suspended overhead added a meaningful and personal touch.
Their story began in the most unexpected place: the Zurich airport. Both on their way to a study abroad program in the summer of 2018, they spent two months traveling through Serbia and Bosnia, where a fast friendship naturally turned into something more. When they returned to campus that fall, Kathryn invited Patrick to her sorority formal, and they’ve been together ever since. Years later, Patrick proposed in a way that felt just as intentional, filling their apartment with flowers, music, and photos from each chapter of their relationship, while both of their families waited nearby to celebrate the moment with them.
Their wedding day reflected that same level of care and intention. Kathryn and Patrick both got ready at the Madison Hotel before sharing a first look on the lawn, a quiet moment that allowed them to fully take in the day together. One of the most meaningful design elements followed guests into the conservatory, where over one thousand hand-folded paper cranes, lovingly crafted by Kathryn’s mom, were suspended from the ceiling. Paired with pastel florals and soft, romantic textures, the entire space felt cohesive, light-filled, and deeply personal.
They exchanged vows surrounded by their closest family and friends inside the conservatory, where natural light poured through the glass walls and brought the entire space to life. As the evening continued, the celebration carried that same joyful energy, with a dance floor full of laughter, excitement, and so much genuine love. Kathryn’s bridesmaids were especially emotional throughout the day, their happiness for her evident in every moment.
After years of long distance, Kathryn and Patrick are finally beginning this next chapter together with Patrick moving to Chicago to be closer to Kathryn. Their wedding day felt like a true reflection of that journey — intentional, joyful, and filled with meaning at every turn.
