An absolutely unforgettable day with Ally and Will! When it comes to city weddings on this side of the Hudson, Battello in Jersey City is the best of the best. This fun-filled celebration was a beautiful blend of elegance, florals and greenery, and industrial chic vibes from start to finish.
Ally and Will are college sweethearts! As Ally tells it, “We met at Fairfield University. We were friends until senior year, and then decided to try things out.” And so thankful that they did! Will had originally made the first move their sophomore year, but by senior year the feeling finally became mutual. These two have known each other for almost eleven years now, and have been together for nearly six.
Will officially popped the question in the most meaningful place to the two of them — on Fairfield’s campus! Obviously fitting, as it’s where their love story began. Ally, of course, said yes, and her engagement ring is absolutely stunning. “It is a round solitaire cut set in platinum. I wanted something timeless!”
When searching for wedding venues, Battello, a restaurant and event space located right on the Jersey City waterfront, was a no brainer. Ally and Will didn’t want a traditional ballroom vibe, so Battello was the ideal choice. With its sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline and a unique blend of industrial romance, it was truly the perfect setting for Ally and Will’s special day.
Despite the gusty winds, we didn’t see a single drop of rain all day and Ally and Will were able to share their first look on the waterfront against the backdrop of the iconic city skyline. The wind added an extra touch of drama as Ally’s veil gracefully danced in the air, creating a memorable and romantic moment for the two of them (and their wedding party that watched excitedly from inside the venue).
From start to finish, this day was filled with equal parts love and gorgeous, lush greenery. The classic floral choices added a touch of timeless elegance to the modern city setting. Battello’s unique ambiance seamlessly blended industrial elements with classic undertones — exposed brick walls, wooden beams, and large windows overlooking the waterfront created the perfect atmosphere for family and friends. Soft candlelight, elegant table settings, and an abundance of white florals transformed the space into a romantic oasis that exuded warmth and charm.
In the end, this day was a reminder that love can withstand any weather — and that a city wedding can be both modern and classic, timeless and unforgettable. Ally and Will truly shared the celebration of a lifetime, and I feel so lucky to have been alongside them to capture every moment!
