A Romantic, Candlelit City Wedding at Battello

Jersey City, New Jersey

|

Katie and Drew’s late-October wedding day at Battello was a celebration that beautifully captured who they are as a couple — refined, modern, and effortlessly timeless. With sweeping skyline views, soft candlelight, and a cozy, romantic atmosphere, every moment reflected their shared love of simplicity and understated elegance.

Their story began in 2014 at Quinnipiac University, when Drew visited his childhood friend Rob (who was also one of Katie’s best friends). At first, Katie and Drew were simply acquaintances, but two years later Drew asked Rob if he could take Katie on a date. He drove three hours from New Jersey to Connecticut, and that single evening sparked a connection that would carry them through years of long distance, new cities, and countless adventures. Katie pursued her graduate degree in Boston while Drew worked toward his Doctorate in North Carolina, and together they navigated life apart with grace and commitment until they finally found home together in Manhattan.

Nearly a decade later, Drew proposed during their anniversary weekend on the Brooklyn Bridge. A hidden photographer captured the moment, followed by a surprise celebration with both of their families — and their beloved dog, Cooper — waiting at their favorite bar in NoHo. The evening ended with dinner at Piccola Cucina in SoHo, the perfect ending to a day filled with love, thoughtfulness, and the city they adore.

When it came to their wedding, Katie and Drew wanted the day to feel timeless, elegant, and classy. They were drawn to Battello for its blend of modern design and waterfront beauty, a venue that felt distinctly New York yet uniquely its own. “We find beauty in simplicity,” Katie shared, and that vision shaped every detail of the celebration.

The morning began across the street from the venue, where Katie got ready with her bridesmaids overlooking the Hudson. She slipped into her breathtaking Pronovias gown, light spilling through the windows as the Manhattan skyline shimmered in the distance. Drew prepared with his groomsmen, anticipation building for the day ahead. Their first look on the waterfront was one of the most emotional moments of the day—just the two of them with the skyline stretching behind them, taking in the quiet before the celebration began. As the sun set, they exchanged vows in Battello’s industrial-chic ceremony space surrounded by glowing candlelight and the soft hum of the city just beyond the glass.

The reception carried their vision through perfectly; romantic, warm, and effortlessly stylish. Candlelit tables, lush florals, and live music created an unforgettable atmosphere. Guests filled the dance floor from start to finish, celebrating Katie and Drew with the kind of energy that can only come from pure joy.

Congratulations to Katie and Drew on the most incredible day — your wedding was a true reflection of your love!
