Spring has finally sprung, and Tori and Nate reaped all the benefits of this incredible weather for their engagement session on the Upper West Side and in Central Park! I had the best time with these two, and it was so nice to be back shooting in one of my favorite places after far too many months away.
This session has been Tori’s Roman Empire (which I love) and she had her heart set on going out in the rowboats. However, we totally failed to realize that the last sail time was 6:30 pm. However, Nate and Tori were able to convince the wonderful workers there to let them take a boat out for just ten minutes for photos — which was all the time we needed! So happy Tori’s vision was able to be brought to life, and a big thank you to the staff members there who made it possible.
Tori and Nate are a dating-app-success-story! As Tori tells it, “We met on Bumble in February 2019 (back when we were too embarrassed to admit to anyone that we met on a dating app)! Nathan was literally the first and only date I went on off a dating app. We went to the La Colombe in Bryant Park and I texted my mom immediately after and told her to start planning my wedding.”
“At the time, I had just moved to NYC to start law school and Nathan had just moved to Brooklyn to finish medical school. We started officially dating in October 2019 (thanks to me being very patient with Nathan shipping back up to Toronto for several months…) and the rest is history! Nathan matched into his medical residency in Long Island and the pandemic had us moving in with each other and getting our Pomsky puppy, Mikey, pretty quickly! We’ve loved every single moment together since then, whether spent at home in Long Island, in New Jersey, in Toronto, or traveling in some remote destination.”
Nathan popped the question on their four year anniversary this past October at his lake house in Ontario! “I completely saw it coming because he is a terrible liar BUT he did surprise me with having my parents and sister fly into Canada to be at the engagement! It rained almost the entire day except for the exact moments he proposed, and our families had the coziest night celebrating and just being together. It was one of the most special nights of our lives.”
Together these two live on Long Island and absolutely love traveling. While it started as small road trips across the US for Nate’s residency interviews, Tori and Nate are actually heading to Africa this upcoming weekend for a two-week safari to celebrate one year until their wedding! Aside from traveling, Nate has gotten Tori very into golfing and tennis in the summer — while Nate always makes it to Tori’s a cappella group’s gigs and tags along to see Broadway shows with her in the city. However, some of their favorite days includes spending the entire weekend cuddled up at home with their dog watching all eight hours of Redzone and making a home cooked dinner.
I’m so excited to celebrate these two next June at Tribeca Rooftop, it’s going to be an incredible day!
