Autumn Cross Estate Gardens Engagement

Bernardsville, New Jersey

A warm fall evening with Kayla and Will at Cross Estate Gardens! The last few days had such an autumn chill in the air, but of course for Kayla and Will the eighty degree weather returned! Despite the warmth, these two did an amazing job and were SO much fun to work with. I feel like we were laughing the entire time!

Kayla and Will have been together for just about seven years! As Kayla tells it, “We met my junior year at Penn State and were on the same THON Philanthropy Committee. On the day before my 21st birthday, I asked my new committee members if anyone had a drink dispenser for jungle juice for my pregame. Will graciously volunteered and he ended up coming to my party with mutual friends we both realized we had. I was the first of most of my friends to turn 21, so Will and our mutual friends ended up going out with us! From there, we became quick friends and we started to feel something there.”

“I had recently gone through a bad break up, so I was weary to get into another relationship. We started hanging out and staying up late at night, talking about anything and everything, showing each other music, and laughing until the sun came up. I realized when I had to say goodbye to him during Winter Break that he was special. Two months later, we were sitting in his black pickup truck when he asked me if we could do something for Valentine’s Day. As I thought about it, the song, “Star of the Show” came on and we both knew it was a sign. This was the song he showed me late at night the first night we started talking. He asked me to be his girlfriend and the rest is history! Will was the best listener, so patient, and showed me that a relationship could be so much better than I imagined.”

In their seven years together, these two made it through three years of long-distance and are finally engaged! Will officially popped the question this past April. “He took me to Morris Arboretum in Chestnut Hand brought me to my favorite tree, a beautiful Cherry Tree. I was completely surprised because he suggested that we golfed earlier in the day and I thought there was no way that it would happen. After the amazing surprise, he told me that our families were waiting for us at a nearby restaurant! We all celebrated and ate dinner together and I thought the fun was over. We headed back to my parents’ house and my grandparents and closest friends were there for a surprise engagement party! It was truly the best day of my life.”

Kayla’s ring is absolutely stunning! She and her mom went to a jeweler about a year and a half ago and tried on a bunch of different rings. “I absolutely fell in love with an oval ring, and Will surprised me with my dream ring! It is an oval diamond with a thin white gold band. The band has tiny diamonds half way around on each side.”

Together these two live right outside of Philadelphia and enjoy cooking, watching Master Chef, exploring new places, hanging out with their friends, and golfing. I am so excited to document their special day next year at Pomme Radnor in PA!
