New York, New York

A little rain in the forecast couldn’t stop us from having Shannon and DJ’s beautiful engagement session in downtown New York City! We were watching the weather in the days leading up and it looked totally fine, until I was physically driving into the city and saw that rain was coming at the exact time we were planning to start taking photos. We took a chance and prayed for clear skies, and thankfully the weather gods delivered! We didn’t get a single drop of rain, and even got a bit of a breeze to break the humidity.
Shannon and I actually went to the same high school! While I was a few years older so we didn’t know each other at the time, I always love photographing alumni weddings — it just feels even more special knowing we grew up in the same town! Shannon and DJ first met in my (totally biased) favorite way; a dating app! As Shannon tells it, “We met on Hinge summer of 2019 and have been dating ever since (almost 5 years now!). We both just started our first jobs after college in NYC. Our first date was on Stone Street in Downtown Manhattan. DJ was quicker to being all in, I took a little longer (only took DJ asking three times for me to finally say yes to being official).”
DJ officially popped the question in a classic New York City way; on a walk in Central Park! Shannon, of course, said yes and afterwards DJ had planned dinner with their families, and a party with all of their friends later that night. Shannon’s ring is a solitaire emerald cut with a platinum band. While the ring was a surprise, Shannon had sent DJ very specific inspiration for photos (and often!).
Together these two live in the Financial District of NYC, making the location for their engagement session all the more special. I cannot wait to document their wedding day next May at The Glasshouse in Manhattan — it’s going to be such an amazing day!
