Tarrytown, New York
|
After multiple weather reschedules and a few flash floods thrown into the mix, we finally lucked out a gorgeous summer evening for Bridget and Mark’s engagement session in Tarrytown. Despite a forecast threatening the potential for storms, we took a chance — and it absolutely paid off. The light was golden, the breeze off the river kept us refreshed, and we got to explore a location that will hold so much meaning to these two since they’ll be saying “I do” overlooking the Hudson next July at Tappan Hill Mansion.
Bridget and Mark’s love story is one of second chances. They first matched on Hinge, but after a few exchanged messages, Bridget ghosted Mark (she swears it wasn’t on purpose!). A year later, fate stepped in when Mark saw her familiar photo pop up on Bumble. He swiped right immediately, she messaged him this time, and the rest is history. Their first date was at Captain Lawrence Brewery and from that moment on, things just clicked.
Mark’s proposal was just as thoughtful and memorable. He planned a day at the New York Botanical Garden’s orchid show — something they had done together before, so it didn’t raise too many red flags. Bridget’s best friend suspected something was up, but even when Mark invited his sister and her boyfriend along, she brushed it off. When they reached the final room filled with vibrant flower walls, Mark asked for a photo, then dropped to one knee and proposed with a ring featuring his grandmother’s diamond, set in a gold band just like Bridget had always wanted. The hidden halo detail he added made it all the more special — and so perfectly her.
To top it off, Mark had one more surprise in store. Afterward, he brought Bridget to Arthur Avenue to celebrate at one of their favorite restaurants, where both of their families were waiting to surprise her. It was the perfect ending to such a meaningful day.
Together, Bridget and Mark love spending slow mornings over breakfast, exploring new restaurants, going for walks, and binging their favorite shows (Mark may or may not be a closet Bravo fan). Their relationship is filled with laughter, love, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple moments — and it was such a joy to capture this season of their story. Counting down the days until their July wedding next year!
