I absolutely LOVE engagement sessions with my wedding clients! Sweet Kim and Joe are getting married on May 8th of next year at Bear Brook Valley and I could not be more excited to capture their special day.
Engagement sessions are the perfect way for us to get to know each other ahead of the wedding — and, as I like to say, it’s a great “pre-game” for your wedding photos. If you’re like most people, you’re probably not super comfortable in front of the camera, especially in when a perfect stranger is photographing you. So, at my clients’ engagement sessions it’s the perfect chance for me to get to know them, and for them to get to know me, so on the day of their wedding we aren’t awkwardly meeting for the first time. By then, we’re like old friends.
Having an engagement session is also a great way for my couples to understand the types of prompts and directions I give, and for me to get a better sense of my couples’ best poses, so that on the day of the wedding we can dive right in (since they’re already total pros).
Leading up to Kim and Joe’s engagement session, we were getting a bit nervous with the forecast. A chance of rain looked pretty certain, but thankfully the skies cleared up by the time we started at Divine Park in Spring Lake (one of my absolute favorite places to shoot). The cherry blossoms were just beginning to bloom, and all was going great… until suddenly a thick blanket of fog rolled in.
Although it wasn’t the glowy lighting we had been planning for, Kim and Joe were SO wonderful and just went with it. I honestly love the way these photos turned out, even though they are totally not your typical sunset beach shots I think the setting with the haze is so stunning. These two were sooo much fun to work with, even though I definitely embarrassed them when I started blasting 50 Cent for them to “dance” to (romantic, right).
I could not be more excited for Kim and Joe’s May 2022 wedding!!!
