Spring Brooklyn Bridge Park Engagement

New York, New York

|

Working with Maddie and Devin was so special! I met these two in college (where they also met six and a half years ago!) and there is nothing I love more than a Bryan University love story. When Maddie reached out about shooting their engagement photos in NYC, I couldn’t have been more excited.

Maddie and Devin got engaged in Central Park earlier this year, and plan to tie the knot in June of 2022 in Bristol, Rhode Island. Together these two live on the upper west side and in their spare time love exploring the city, hanging out on deck with their friends watching the Yankees & cook on the grill, enjoying some red wine, and working together almost every morning.

Although the forecast had been looking a little questionable in the days leading up to our session, thankfully it was nothing but clear skies for us. Brooklyn Bridge Park is one of my favorite places to shoot in the city, because not only is it absolutely beautiful but it also has so many different locations in a small area which adds so much variety to photos.

As much as I love shooting on the waterfront with the Manhattan skyline and Brooklyn Bridge, one of my other favorite spaces in the area is the Max Family Gardens — “an intimate, triangular garden with winding paths, diverse plantings, and relaxing seating areas, all inside the historic brick walls of the 19th century Tobacco Warehouse building.” It is such a stunning and unique setting, and this time of year it was starting to bloom which made it all the more beautiful.

One place I had been dying to explore in this part of town was the Empire Stores Rooftop. If you’ve been to DUMBO you’ve probably been to (or at least walked by) the Empire Stores (think the West Elm on the water). I knew there was a rooftop but had never been able to find it. Well funny enough, the stairs were basically in plain sight — so we headed to the top and ended our session with the most beautiful views of the East River.

Congratulations to Maddie and Devin (and go Bulldogs)!
