A Windswept Montauk Elopement at the Edge of the World

Montauk, New York

|

There are places that feel like the edge of everything, where the land softens into the sea, the air feels quieter, and time seems to slow. Montauk is one of those places, and it was the perfect setting for Jess & Billy’s wedding day. A year after getting engaged along these same shores, they returned to Montauk to celebrate their marriage in the most meaningful way. Their day unfolded as an elopement-style celebration with only their immediate families present. The focus was never on tradition or spectacle, but on presence, connection, and letting the natural beauty of the setting lead the way.

The day began with an intimate first look in their room at Gurney’s. Soft coastal light filled the space as the ocean stretched endlessly beyond the windows. It was calm, unhurried, and deeply personal — the kind of moment that sets the tone for everything that follows.

Jess and Billy’s florals reflected the wild, romantic spirit of Montauk. While not literal wildflowers, the arrangements carried that same feeling. Loose, whimsical, and organic, they featured cosmos and greenery that felt perfectly at home in the coastal breeze. Nothing felt overly styled, everything felt intentional and free.

We spent time along the rocky beach nearby, with waves breaking in the distance and a light breeze moving through the day. Montauk has a way of making even the simplest moments feel cinematic, and Jess & Billy leaned into that energy effortlessly. Walking hand in hand, laughing easily, and completely present with one another, they felt grounded in the beauty around them.

Their ceremony took place in a meadow, surrounded by family and framed by the coastal landscape. With no distractions and no rush, the moment felt incredibly intimate. It was understated in the best way. Heartfelt, emotional, and rooted in what mattered most. As the sun dipped lower, the sky softened into cotton candy hues, wrapping the day in the kind of light photographers dream of and couples remember forever. It was one of those rare days where everything aligns — the place, the people, the weather, and the feeling of being exactly where you are meant to be.

Jess and Billy’s Montauk wedding was a reminder that the most powerful celebrations don’t need to be grand. Sometimes they’re quiet. Sometimes they’re intimate. And sometimes, they happen at the edge of the world, surrounded by the people you love most, with the ocean as your witness.
