A Romantically Rainy Spring Wedding at The Ryland Inn

Whitehouse Station, New Jersey

|

Kayla and Jason had an absolutely incredible celebration at The Ryland Inn, and regardless of the rain we got so many truly stunning photos — plus, they had maybe the wildest reception I’ve seen to date!

These two have been together for over ten years, initially meeting thanks to mutual friends back when Kayla was in college. Together they live in a gorgeous townhome in Morristown with their adorable pups. Jason popped the question on the Hoboken waterfront, and Kayla of course said yes to her best friend of so many years.

I had the best time working with these two over the past year leading up to their wedding day! Kayla is the absolute sweetest person, and she truly lights up every room she walks into. I was so excited to celebrate them at The Ryland Inn, and as always anxiously and religiously checked the forecast in the days before their wedding. The forecast seemed like it would behave at first, and then the rain percentage slowly increased the closer we got. On the morning of, it was certain we were in for a day of nonstop rain.

But Kayla and Jason didn’t let the weather stop them from bringing the celebration! Jason and the guys got ready in the Pelham House, while Kayla got glammed up in Hayworth Cottage. Kayla looked positively radiant, and I literally kept telling her how obsessed I was with her as she finished getting ready. She looked straight out of a magazine!

These two shared their first look outside of the Grand Ballroom (under the cover of an awning, of course)! Jason’s reaction was absolutely priceless — he couldn’t even contain his excitement as he turned around and saw his stunning bride-to-be.

Kayla and Jason planned to do a butterfly release after their ceremony to honor Kayla’s late mother and brother, but because the ceremony would need to be inside due to rain they decided to do it right after their first look. It was such a special moment — as the butterflies took flight, two stuck around on Kayla’s bouquet. Coincidence? I hardly think so. I truly believe Kayla’s mother and brother were with her that day.

Then, it was time to get married! The Grand Ballroom made for a pretty darn good rain plan, and Kayla and Jason made their union official! From there, one of the craziest receptions I’ve yet to witness began — complete with live drummer, saxophone player, smoke, and sparklers! Kayla, Jason, and their guests had the time of their lives, and I couldn’t be happier to have been able to capture such a special day for two wonderful people.

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Dellaterza!
