My first engagement session of the year with Aly and Nick couldn’t have been more perfect! We caught the very tail end of the trees being in bloom at Divine Park, and the clouds cleared just in time to give us the most beautiful light.
I actually went to high school with Aly, and funny enough she and Nick grew up less than a mile apart as well — but didn’t cross paths until the summer of 2020. The pandemic unexpectedly led Aly to relocate from New York City back to the suburbs of New Jersey, where Nick lived and worked. As fate would have it, on Fourth of July weekend these two were introduced through a mutual friend over drinks at the Patio Bar down the shore, and they’ve been inseparable ever since.
Exactly two years later, Nick proposed to Aly alongside their close family and friends. As Aly tells it, “I NEVER get my nails done, so the days leading up to our engagement, my friend Morgan had this on-going narrative with me that she thought her boyfriend was about to propose that weekend and wanted me to come get my nails done with her just in case. For some reason, I totally bought that and didn’t think anything of it even though it was mine and Nick’s anniversary.”
“Nick and I got engaged in my parents’ backyard. He had a romantic set up in the backyard with both of our parents present. I never wear jewelry, so I was so flustered when I saw the ring and just said yes, took the box, and walked away with the ring. He was like, wait, I have to put it on your finger!” Speaking of the ring, Aly has a stunning three stone engagement ring and it’s exactly what she wanted. Nick kept Aly’s friend, Morgan, involved in the entire process — she knew exactly what Aly liked, and was able to get answers from her without seeming suspicious.
In their spare time, Aly and Nick love spending time with Nick’s sweet seven year old son, as well as their adorable pup, Cooper. They also love hosting parties and get togethers at their house with close friends and family, and binge watching true crime shows.
I am so excited to celebrate these two next May at Bear Brook Valley, it’s going to be an incredible day!
