Hoboken, New Jersey

I had the best time with Colleen and Garrett at their engagement session in uptown Hoboken! We explored their neighborhood together, stopping by their favorite streets, enjoying the river views, and even spending a little time with their beloved cat, George, who made a cameo halfway through the shoot.
Colleen and Garrett’s love story began in classic New Jersey fashion; through mutual friends and rival high schools. They first met at a birthday party for one of Garrett’s hockey teammates, and it was Colleen who made the first move. After just a few weeks, they were spending nearly every day together. Even as college and junior league hockey took them miles apart, they decided to try long distance — and they made it work for seven years!
Between juggling jobs and graduate school, countless road trips, and quick weekend visits, these two built a relationship on commitment and shared dreams. Their paths finally converged in New York City just after the pandemic, and they’ve been living together in Hoboken ever since.
This past October, Garrett proposed in Stellenbosch, South Africa, during a trip that perfectly captured their shared love for travel and adventure. The engagement ring is a beautiful reflection of their story, designed with platinum and three diamonds, including two heirloom stones from Garrett’s family. Even more meaningful, the ring was crafted by Ferdinand Jewelers in New Providence, NJ, a shop Colleen has visited since childhood. The owners, who have watched her grow up, helped Garrett create the perfect piece to mark their next chapter.
Together, Colleen and Garrett love trying new restaurants, exploring new places, and spending cozy nights in — especially Fridays, which are reserved for their favorite pizza spot and catching up on shows. Their easygoing, joyful energy was so evident during their session, and you can feel just how deeply they care for each other.
Next June they’ll make it official at one of my favorite venues, The Ryland Inn, and I can’t wait to celebrate their wedding day after documenting such a meaningful part of their journey!
