Chic Black Tie Wedding at Battello Jersey City

Jersey City, New Jersey

What a stunning day for Christina and Stephen at Battello! In a summer of insane heat, these two were blessed with perfect weather (who would have thought a late-July wedding would be cooler than most of my June weddings?!) and they truly deserved nothing less. I love working with these two; they are both so kind and thoughtful, and it’s no shock that they’re a perfect match for each other.

Christina and Stephen first met in 2016 during Christina’s final round interview a recruiting agency, where they both discovered they grew up in the same town but never knew each other (despite having mutual friends). They quickly became friends but were never single at the same time, until December of 2018 when they both were on a company trip in Cancun, Mexico. As Stephen tells it, Christina boldly announced her crush for Stephen during Happy Hour at the bar. Stephen was in disbelief, but they kept things professional for the remainder of the trip. However, upon their return, they eventually began hanging out outside of work and discovered their instant chemistry. The rest, as they say, is history!

Stephen proposed at Chart House in Weehawken, overlooking Hudson Yards, and surrounded by clapping patrons. “To be honest, I barely remember what I said! It must have worked, because she said yes!” Stephen’s philosophy for the ring was that Christina has to wear it for the rest of her life so she might as well love it! For Valentine’s Day in 2021, Stephen took Christina ring shopping in the diamond district of NYC. Although Stephen was planning on proposing the following year, Christina had announced that she was ready to be proposed to after selecting her ring, so naturally the timeline moved up!

Together, these two absolutely love watching movies and TV shows. “We’re Leos, so relaxation and shopping are our favorite things to do. We love trying new restaurants, but if we find something really great Stephen will order it several times over.” They also love traveling, watching Michigan football, and hosting parties at their apartment.

Living in Hoboken, Battello was an obvious choice when deciding on their wedding venue — and as usual, it did not disappoint! With unmatched skyline views and an industrial-chic vibe, Battello is absolutely one of my favorite places to photograph a wedding. From start to finish, Christina and Stephen’s celebration was exactly what they’d dreamed, and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it.

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Wettstein!
