The perfect night for a coastal engagement session! After so many days of oppressive heat, we were finally blessed with milder temperatures — and a cool sea breeze nonetheless! I had the best time with Marie and Matt during their session, and the time truly flew by.
These two first met back in college! As Marie tells it, “We met at Providence College at a house party our sophomore year through mutual friends! Matt made the first move and I did try to play hard to get but in the end, I fell in love! We would say it was a gradual kind of love to get to know one another and have fun with it since we were in college, but as time went on we got more and more serious and knew we wanted to get married one day. We have been together for over six years and it has been such a blast!”
Matt popped the question in Sea Girt, on the very same beach we would eventually take their engagement photos! Matt and his family spent many summers at Sea Girt beach growing up, and he started bringing Marie along with them seven summers ago — making the location for his proposal all the more meaningful since it’s such a special place to the two of them. “Matt did a very good job of keeping it a surprise and told me we were taking family photos on the beach; turns out there were no family photos happening, and he got down on one knee!”
While these two didn’t pick out the ring together, Marie did try on rings by herself to see what shape and color (gold vs. platinum) she wanted, but the rest was up to Matt and it turned out beautifully! “He did a wonderful job and picked out a stunning oval ring with side baguettes and a hidden halo. The ring has very beautiful details that were such a wonderful surprise.”
Marie and Matt love doing adventurous things together, and share a passion for skiing so they always plan a trip each year to get out on the slopes. They also love cooking together and trying new restaurants around Hoboken and NYC, as well as rooting for Providence College basketball. I’m so excited for their wedding day next fall at Morris County Golf Club, it’s going to be an incredible celebration!
