The forecast for Elizabeth and Craig’s Spring Lake engagement session called for gale force wind warnings, so not exactly the dreamy beach day we’d all envisioned. But even with winds whipping off the ocean and hair flying in every direction, these two brought such joy, warmth, and calm to the chaos. And honestly? The photos turned out stunning — windblown and romantic in all the right ways.
Elizabeth and Craig’s story began in September 2022 with a little help from her brother and a mutual friend. After some low-key Instagram stalking (Craig added her but didn’t say a word!), Elizabeth finally broke the ice with a bold story-like. That same night, he messaged her — and just like that, everything changed. From their first date, they both felt it. By January, they made it official, though their hearts were already all in.
The proposal? Straight out of a movie. Lavallette, a place full of family memories and the site of Craig’s first “I love you,” became the backdrop for the most thoughtful surprise. After asking not just her dad, but her mom, nana, and all three brothers for their blessing, Craig teamed up with her family to pull off the perfect decoy — a fake beach house tour. When they arrived, a path of long-stemmed white roses led to a cozy setup on the sand. The beach was unusually calm. Champagne, a blanket, and a moment that took Elizabeth’s breath away. “This is where I told you I loved you, and this is where I’m going to ask you to marry me.”
As if that wasn’t enough, Craig totally surprised Elizabeth with the most perfect ring — an elongated cushion cut in yellow gold, just like she’d dreamed of. She had no idea he remembered her casually mentioning it the summer before, but every little detail just showed how deeply he knows her.
Together they love dinner dates, traveling, beach days, and cheering on Craig’s favorite hockey team (Elizabeth brings the outfit game, of course). But no matter what they’re doing, it’s the together part that matters most. Their happiness comes from just being in each other’s company.
