Kayla and Jason got the absolutely perfect night for their engagement photos! Our session had originally been scheduled for the beginning of May, but we unfortunately had to reschedule due to rain.
As we got closer and closer to their new date, we anxiously watched the forecast (which was pretty consistently thunder storms all week), until it totally cleared up the day before! It was nothing but beautiful sunny skies and an, um, invigorating cool breeze all evening! …I say invigorating because although I thoroughly enjoyed the chill in the air as I was running around shooting, these two got a bit chilly — but I kept them moving!
Kayla first reached out to me only a week after she got engaged! She had come across my work after I photographed one of her friends, Dominirose’s, intimate backyard wedding last fall, and I am so happy she did!
These two first met while Kayla was at college at Montclair State University. A few of her girlfriends went to high school with Jason, and they met though them! They’ve been together for over nine years, and closer to ten by the time they get married.
Jason proposed on December 12th, 2020 in Hoboken with the view of the NYC skyline, “But unfortunately that day it was so foggy and you couldn’t see it!” Kayla explained to me. She was taking photos on the waterfront with one of her friends, and suddenly felt a tap on her shoulder. She had no idea who it could be, and turned around and there was Jason — with a ring! She was so surprised, and of course said yes. “The day was perfect regardless. It was very unexpected, he did such a good job planning the whole day.”
Together these two love to go out to dinner and try new restaurants. “We are big foodies! We’ll take day trips to NYC just for tacos at the Chelsea market. We also love to workout together, go on jet skis in the summer and hang at the beach. Skiing and snowboarding has always been a favorite since we started dating!” They also have three (!!!) dogs, the newest of which being an adorable mini Aussie named Cooper (who I was so sad did not attend our session as well)!
I could not be more excited for Kayla and Jason’s wedding next May at the Ryland Inn!
