An absolutely gorgeous day celebrating Lauren and Destin! As many times as I have shot engagements in Liberty State Park and weddings at Maritime Parc, this was my first time shooting at Liberty House — and the skyline views truly did not disappoint! Thankfully we had beautiful clear skies all day, and from start to finish Lauren and Destin had a perfect celebration.
These two first met on the first day of classes at Ithaca College in 2015! As Lauren tells it, “We started dating in March of 2016, so we have been together for almost seven and a half years. We were friends first, but then realized that there was something more there!”
Destin popped the question on December 19, 2021. “We had picked out a ring back in October so I was hoping it would happen before the holidays so we could celebrate with family. Destin kept saying that the ring was delayed due to supply chain issues (since they had to make the band, etc.) and he didn’t think it would be here before the holidays. Fast-forward a few weeks and he tells me that a client at work is unveiling this new project at The Edge in NYC and we got invited to go! I almost didn’t want to go because I was feeling lazy, and he mentioned his other co-workers cancelling.”
“We ended up going and did the whole experience (cheesy green screen photo, champagne, etc.) and then asked someone to take our photo… that’s when he popped the question! I was so surprised and it was a really wonderful moment between the two of us with the NYC cityscape behind us.”
When looking at venues, Lauren and Destin wanted somewhere that felt like a combination of the two of them — and that had a view of the city, since it’s such a special place to them both. “We were looking for venues in the area, toured a few and immediately knew that Liberty House was the one when we walked in!” Liberty House truly does have the most incredible view of New York, from the ceremony space to the reception room you can’t help but constantly admire the stunning skyline.
I had the best time working with these two, all the way from the beginning of their wedding planning journey to their engagement session in Central Park, and from start to finish on their special day. Lauren and Destin are truly the kindest, most thoughtful couple, and I wish them all of the love and happiness in the world as they begin their married life together. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Klug!
