My last full wedding of the year was truly one for the books! Kristie and Matt had an absolutely beautiful celebration of their love at the Perona Farms Refinery alongside all of their closest family and friends. Their day was one rich in Polish traditions, and it was so much fun to see and experience!
Like so many of my couples, Kristie and Matt are actually high school sweethearts! As Kristie tells it, “We’ve been together for what feel like forever! We’ve known each other since we were in high school and have pretty much dated ever since. Matt made the first move.” These two got engaged on a sailboat on Matt’s birthday in August 2022! Kristie’s ring is an emerald diamond, and it’s absolutely stunning. “I’ve always wanted an emerald and Matt surprised me with the perfect one. It was a complete surprise!”
Although Kristie and Matt’s engagement session last year was one of the coldest days of the year, these two were blessed with beautiful weather despite the late time of year. We had some sunny skies, some cloudy skies, but not a drop of rain — plus, the mild temperatures allowed us to take all of their photos outside! These two got ready separately before their church ceremony, Kristie at her parents’ house and Matt at their apartment in Jersey City. We came together at their family church in Newark where they said their vows and made their union official — entirely in Polish! I can’t say I wasn’t a little worried I was going to miss something not understanding anything that was being said, but thankfully all went well and soon enough it was time to head to their venue for portraits!
Perona Farms’ new portrait location, The Point, is one of my favorites to shoot at, and we made our way to all of the other must-have locations as well. These two were naturals in front of the camera, and before we knew it it was time for them to dance the nice away alongside their guests. I couldn’t be happier to have documented these special moments for an even more special couple. Congratulations again, Kristie and Matt!
