Lucie and Jon are married! This sweet couple had the most beautiful day celebrating their love alongside their family and friends — and these two have a LOT of friends, which is a true testament to how special and incredibly loved they are! From their inspirational church ceremony to their epic choreographed first dance (spins, dips, and lifts) — all while successfully dodging the rain along the way — it couldn’t have been a more perfect day for these two.
I went to college with Lucie’s maid of honor, Ali, so when Lucie first reached out I was so excited to chat more with her about her special day. Lucie is such a chill bride, and she and I just clicked right away.
Lucie and Jon first met when they were working together as teachers. As Lucie tells it, “We were pretty good friends for the first two years and would flirt, but neither one of us were really interested in anything more. After two years, Jon left the school and on his last day he asked me to come over and hangout.”
The two of them began officially dating in 2019 and got engaged last June on Lucie’s parents’ 34th wedding anniversary, which made it all the more special. Jon proposed outside of their church, and Lucie was totally surprised! “I was actually dumbfounded and didn’t say anything for about a minute, and was just so shocked but excited! I knew it was coming but had absolutely no idea it was going to be then.”
We went into Lucie and Jon’s wedding day knowing there was a threat of rain, but crossing our fingers, toes, and all other possible limbs that we would evade any inclement weather. Lucie and her girls prepped for the day at Lucie and Jon’s house, while Jon got ready at his parents’ house a few towns over. As Lucie stepped into her dress, her girls couldn’t contain their excitement — she looked absolutely stunning, and I knew Jon would be just as blown away when he saw her.
These two made their union official at Lucie’s childhood church, St. Rose of Lima in Short Hills, NJ. When Jon saw Lucie walking down the aisle, his face lit up and he couldn’t stop smiling. The church was absolutely stunning, with white walls and so much natural light that it was truly a photographer’s heaven. Their priest had such a dynamic and inspiring presence, and executed an absolutely perfect ceremony — even making sure I had access to the best photo ops as we went!
As much as Lucie and Jon wanted beautiful portraits and detail photos, the main priority for these two was their friends. Lucie has more friends than people I’ve met in my life, and it’s no secret why — as Ali, her maid of honor, said in her speech, “Lucie has so many friends because Lucie is THE best friend.” It was so evident throughout the day how much love their guests had for these two. I am so happy that they were able to celebrate their union with everyone they love most, AND we successfully evaded every drop of rain throughout the day!
I truly could not be happier for Lucie and Jon, and wish them all of the happiness in the world!
