Effortlessly Chic West Village Engagement

West Village, New York

|

I had the best time running around the West Village with sweet Alex and Matt for their engagement session! It was a particularly toasty summer day in the city, but these two didn’t let the heat get to them and kept it cool the entire shoot.

Alex and Matt have maybe one of the best, and most unique, how-they-met stories ever. As Alex tells it, “Matt and I met in college at University of South Caroline on a blind date mix up, my freshman year and his senior year. It was the night of a camo-themed party, and I was set up on a blind date with a guy named Matt. Matt texted me that he was outside of my dorm, when I walked outside a guy in camo said, “Hi darlin’, I’m Matt.” Naturally, I got in his car and we went to the party. About an hour later, I made the comment to a friend that Matt and I were really hitting it off at which point my friend informed me that this Matt was not the guy I was set up with.  Turns out the “Real Matt” waited patiently for me outside of my dorm, and I had been on a date with the wrong guy.  I felt awful for the mix up, but Matt and I have been together ever since!”

Alex’s ring is absolutely gorgeous. “I’m obsessssssed! We went shopping together and knew we wanted an oval with a thin pave band. After that, Matt met with a few jewelers and picked the specifics. He nailed it! I was still so surprised when I saw the ring. I literally look at it all the time and smile like a weirdo.”

Together these two live in the East Village and love cooking, baking, happy hour oysters (a staple for them!), live music, comedy shows, and Broadway. I am so excited their tented private estate wedding next September in Little Silver, NJ — it’s going to be a beautiful celebration for these two incredibly sweet, and effortlessly cool, people!
