Joyful Summer Wedding at The Olde Mill Inn

Oh my gosh, where to even begin with Megan and Anthony?! I felt like we were old friends from the start, and being a part of their wedding journey was such an amazing experience. These two are the absolute sweetest, and I am so honored they trusted me to document their special day — from Megan’s surprise first look gift (for the record, Anthony was emotional BEFORE he even saw the putter) to their super fun wedding party and guests (literally everyone broke it down on the dance floor), this day was such a joy to capture!

These two first met through friends in college! As Megan put it, “It is a SEMI-scandal… BUT REALLY NOT AS SCANDALOUS AS IT SOUNDS!” Anthony was actually Megan’s ex-boyfriend’s best friend! Her ex lost touch with all his home friends (Anthony included) and broke up with her along the way! Anthony’s girlfriend at the time also left him. “We bonded over heartbreak, and here we are!” Megan also went on the record to say that they bonded several years, not a day or week, later!

Together these two currently live in Green Brook, which is Anthony’s home town and not far from where Meg grew up. They actually both went to the same high school, but never knew each other because the school is so large. “It took leaving the state for college, and being with the wrong people, to find each other right back where we both started! And now here we are.”

Meg was TOTALLY surprised by Anthony’s proposal! He made Carlie, Megan’s best friend and maid of honor, inconspicuously figure out what types of rings she liked for an entire year. “Carlie even faked having a bum finger and “wasn’t able to try on wedding bands herself,” so she had me try on bands for her… which casually turned into engagement rings. She found out what I liked, spilled the beans to Ant! Meanwhile, I was under the impression Ant would wait at least a year to propose, because we agreed to save money! Fooled me!”

From Meg and Anthony’s engagement session last summer (special guest appearance by their furchildren, Olive and Stevie) I knew we were kindred spirits — mostly because we all love our dogs an exorbitant amount. When it was finally wedding day, I couldn’t have been more excited to celebrate these two, even if Olive and Stevie weren’t present for the occassion.

I think this was the first wedding I’ve shot where the bride has given the groom a surprise gift, mid-first look! Anthony had his eye on this putter (and to be clear I know absolutely nothing about golf but from everyone’s reaction, it was a dang nice putter) and Meg decided, even though they said no gifts, she was going to be holding it to surprise him during their first look. As soon as he saw his bride-to-be, Anthony broke down — he didn’t even notice the putter at first! But when we did, the tears continued. Unfortunately I had to tear him away from his practice putting for portraits, but he will fortunately have years of play time with his wedding day gift.

I couldn’t be happier for Megan and Anthony, and am so grateful I was able to celebrate alongside them and capture every moment! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Sorrentino!
