Classic Oceanside Wedding at The Breakers Spring Lake

Spring Lake, New Jersey

What a perfect day for a coastal wedding! Like so many of my October weddings the forecast threatened rain in the weeks leading up, but as we got closer to Julia and JT’s big day it seemed we’d have nothing but sun and clear skies! Although these two were ready to embrace the romance of a rainy wedding day, I’m so glad we had gorgeous weather to celebrate this sweet couple.

Like so many of my clients, Julia and JT are high school sweethearts! As Julia tells it, “We actually had a mutual class and somewhat knew each other (JT sat behind me and would throw pencils towards me so I’d lean over to get them and he could read my name off my paper!). He ended up transferring to a private school, but my best friend and his former hockey team stat girl set us up.”

These two have now been together for over seven and a half years! “The first time we were both single and I got to actually hang out with just him, I specifically remember saying in my head, “This one is going to hurt so badly when it ends — I hope this one doesn’t end.” I had only just turned 17 and he was 16!”

JT proposed in September 2021, and Julia’s unique engagement ring has such a special story. “I am super into vintage clothing and even used to have my own online vintage store. On April 15th, 2021 (our anniversary), I was on TikTok while he was getting ready for our yearly dinner plans. I saw this absolutely gorgeous ring on a vintage jewelers Tik’s Tok and instantly knew it needed to be mine.” And JT made Julia’s dream ring a reality!

I asked Julia and JT how they drew inspiration for their wedding day. “Mostly from the venue itself mixed with our own personalities!” Julia explained. “The venue is a historic beach front hotel with a shades of blue and white aesthetic. It’s very timeless and classic which is exactly what I wanted for our wedding. It’s not a trendy theme but it also will never not be in style. We incorporated little bits of our personalities such as our love for coffee, pumpkins, sprinkles, and our dog Banksie.”

“The Breakers has been my dream venue since I was a little girl. Saint Catharine Church has been our family church for three generations. My dad went to grammar school there, both my parents made their sacraments there, my parents were married there, my sister and I did religious education there, and now my mom and sister work there! Both venues have been a part of my life for many years. And JT just wanted me to have my dream wedding, he’s not too picky!”

Julia and JT read their vows privately on the beach after an emotional first look, and before an even more emotional moment of being reunited with their sweet rescue pup, Banksie! And when I saw reunited, I mean they hadn’t seen her in a day — but that’s a long time for any pet owner! These high school sweethearts made their marriage official with a beautiful ceremony at one of my favorite churches, St. Catharine’s in Spring Lake, and danced the night away alongside their closest family and friends at The Breakers on the Ocean.

Congratulations to these two on this next chapter together, they couldn’t have had a more perfect day!
